Recently Updated; Heavily Influenced

Hearhstone Huddle

This week I’m talking about the current meta and whether or not hunter is still viable after the recent update. This update changed the cost of Starving Buzzard from 2 to 5 while updating it’s stats from 2/1 to 3/2, essentially killing the card.

First things first. Hunter is tied for my favorite class along with warlock. I think the hunter hero ability lacks versatility but is also very high powered and straight forward. I’ve seen a decrease in hunter usage as of late but it’s still being played fairly often. The versions I see now contain Undertakers, Webspinners, Mad Scientists, and then some amount of traps and Eaglehorn Bow. So to sum it all up, the nerf ruined the buzzard card but still didn’t ruin the class.

I can say that the update did help balance out the current meta though. Although it seems like I play against the same classes over and over again, I’ve seen a pretty good balance as of late. What I’ve seen the most lately are priests and control warriors. Control warrior is still an excellent class (not for me) that can do very well across the board. Most of the priests decks are structurally the same including Cabal Shadow Priests and Auchenai Soulpriests. They usually contain Wild Pyromancers and/or Injured Blademasters as well. I played against a couple differnt zoolock decks and a couple different handlock decks as well, with some Mage and shaman sprinkled too. It seems to me like the two classes that saw the most play when the game first started gaining popularity, Druid and rogue, are hardly showing up at all in ranked play. Miracle rogue sank when they nerfed Leeroy Jenkins. Or, it could be because those two decks got the worst new cards when the naxx update dropped.

Well that’s it for this week. Hope you enjoyed the article and if not leave a comment and tell me all about it.
